I'm feverishly trying to get my car ready for this race. After taking out the rear universal join the last two races, I've decided something is amiss. I've never checked the rear pinion angle since most of the components are stock, but I figure I'm now getting more wrap up with the additional power so I'll have a look. Well, with the car weighted, the pinion is 2° up relative to the driveshaft. Oh oh! should be down at least. I don't want too thick of shim stack, so I order some 2° shims and these (to keep the wrap up controlled):
It's easier changing the universal joint at home than at the track:
I was dreading removing the front leaf spring bushing, didn't know if my press would do it, but had no problem:
So barring no further setbacks (just getting over a nasty cold), I should have this wrapped up for the race.

I've got to put the alternator bracket back on the Malibu. It broke round 4, last race in D.O.T. Next round I went out, car was a little hot and she ran off. Put a new line-lock on the wagon. Going to bleed brakes and take it to test-n-tune Thursday. If it acts right, maybe Gabe will make it Saturday to race in the combo, and I'll run the D.O.T. class (and hang out with all my all my NSS buddies!).
Have about 20 cars coming. Not too sure about the NHRA/IHRA Stockers and Super Stockers, as Beech Bend is having a combo race, just for them on Sunday.
See you guys on Saturday. Gates open at 4:00 PM!

We have lost a couple more. TD's AMX isn't finished. Now Al's car has "Magic Fingers" (maybe he should stop putting quarters in the HVAC slots!).... Still have about 18 Nostalgia cars, + S/SS.
Rain is moving out, skies are getting brighter, radar is looking good. Here's a quote from MIR (via midsouthracers.com):
SATURDAY - MAY 17 UPDATE - 10:40 AM - « on: Today at 10:37:09 AM »

Good morning, as of Saturday, May 17 at 10:40 a.m. we are still planning to run the Summit Bracket Racing Series Presented by COMP Cams with the added class of Stock/Super Stock. We are still getting a light rain and will make a final decision at 1 p.m. - thank you for your patience and support.

Races one and two were settled this past weekend at MIR, with a double header, on Saturday and Sunday!
Saturday the NHRA/IHRA S/SS cars dominated, with a 1-2 finish, shutting out the Nostalgia cars. In a break-out finish, Amy Faulk, wheeled her LS powered Firebird to victory over Kenny Bomar's '69, 396 Camaro.
Not to be out done, the Nostalgia cars came back with a vengeance, on Sunday, taking the top two spots. It was Steve Wilson, in his "Grannys Garage", '65 Chevelle Deluxe 300 winning over Don Cossey's impeccable, Max Wedge Plymouth.
Hope to see you all at the next Combo Race on Saturday evening, July 26th!
I'll try to do a better job of getting the word out next month. Gabe and his wife blessed us with another grand daughter last Thursday. Kennedy came almost a month early, but is doing good. Needless to say, with the Malibu still in pieces, and a new bundle of joy, racing hasn't been on my radar!
