I am posting this so there is no confusion come Race Day. Once again, I will be doing Safety Tech as well as Class Tech at all Victory NSS Points Races like I have in the past. Since some of our venues will not be NHRA sanctioned tracks this year, I have decided to mandate that all Victory Participants must meet all NHRA Safety requirements for their ET at all Points Races, no matter the venue. This way there will be no confusion or issues at any of the races. If you have any questions, the rule book is available at NHRA.com or you can call me. Some basics that we must remember: Any car running faster than the 11.50 index must have a roll bar. Seat Belts are dated and are good for 2 years. You must have a Snell 2005 or newer helmet. Any car running faster than the 10.00 index must have a current NHRA Chassis Certification [these are good for 3 years]. Also, the driver must have a current NHRA Competition License [these are good for 2 years]. *IMPORTANT* New for 2014:
SECTION 20: GENERAL REGULATIONS, ENGINE: 1, 1:3 EXHAUST (Page 3) (2/18/2014) All cars vehicles must be equipped with exhaust collectors, headers, or stacks installed to direct exhaust out of car vehicle body to rear of car, away from driver and fuel tank. No part of the exhaust system may be routed through the driver’s compartment. Exhaust collectors/stacks system components must be securely fastened (i.e., metal connector straps, bolted, welded, etc.) to prevent loss of collector/stacks system components during competition. Effective Jan. 1, 2014, All removable multi-piece exhaust collectors/stacks must be securely fastened with either an NHRA-accepted header tether, or a minimum ½” (half-inch) stitch weld located on each primary tube or be permanently attached to the vehicle body or frame with positive fasteners (i.e. exhaust hangers, support brackets, bolts/nuts, etc.) such that they require tools for removal. to prevent loss of collector/stacks during competition. A current list of NHRA-accepted header tethers is available on NHRARacer.com. Flexible tubing or “flex pipe” prohibited in all categories. If mufflers are used, they must be securely attached to exhaust system and car vehicle body or frame.
To help make this easier for everyone, I have secured sponsorship from Jok Nicholson at Trailer Toad and Colletor-cable.com for this year. Jok has agreed to sell his approved tether set to any of the Victory NSS Racers for $49.00 plus shipping. This is quite a deal, I appreciate Jok stepping up and helping us. His tethers are well made and very easy to install. To order a set, you must know the diameter of your primary header tube as well as the diameter of your collector or torque tube and the distance from one to the other. Then call Jok at 319-404-7001 with your info and tell him you are with the Victory Series. He said he can ship them in a couple days. Don't wait until the last minute though, order them now. I will be checking for them at St.Louis! If you have any questions, call Jok or me and we will fix you up. Please pass this info on to anyone you know that is running the Victory Series.
We are a month away from our first race, so check those cars over and check your dates on Safety Equipment! I look forward to a great 2014 Season, see you at Gateway.
