RIP AKRON ARLEN VANKE It is with a heavy heart that I bring news of my friends passing. I stopped to see him 2 days ago and he was not himself, said he was not feeling good.....Arlen would meet someone once and never forget their name and if he was your friend, he was just that. One of the greatest S/S racers ever, but never failed to give you honest advice....I was honored to know him and will miss him .....no arrangements yet but I will pass along when I have anything....Godspeed my friend

Damon, thinking back on our conversation the other day, perhaps Arlen was telling you Goodbye. It is sad that we are loosing all of the great Ambassadors of our Sport. We need to be thankful for the legacy that they leave behind and all of the great memories. Arlen is in a much better place now. The Victory Family's thoughts and prayers go out to the Vanke Family and Friends. Victory NSS will continue the honored tradition that such greats as Arlen Vanke began. RIP Arlen, we will miss you. Chris

R.I.P. Old friend! I will miss you! The first time I met Arlen! It was like he'd known me all his life! I'll miss your stories of your racing career and the jokes you always told!
