Attachment DeletedWell, I got the engine and transmission off the floor and out of the way by putting it into the car. I thought I'd slip the headers in before I put my cherry picker away in case I had to lift the engine. Well those TTI headers fit in there with no trouble, but then hit on the bottom of my mini starter. Well I tried another and it fits with it. Both starters look like the same, but there is a difference.
Well that is good to know about the starters. One is from a local rebuilder that just retired, the other is from? autozone or someplace. The local rebuilder one fits. I had it as a spare in the trailer, but now I am not sure if I should use this autozone for a spare or not. Both are brand new.
Do the Edelbrock Victor heads have a slightly raised exhaust port? If so that is why this one starter won't fit. Anybody know?
I started on it last winter, then put it away for the summer. Now, back at it. I have some of its last year progress in the 63 Plymouth progress thread. Yeah, I have a 9 inch ford in there, with a good center section. The only ford part was the housing, and next time that will be new too as its cheaper. Built as a race car, it will be mainly streeted probably. Everything goes to the track once in a while. Just love going out to the shop everyday and playing.
Tom, looks great, but not to nit pick but the factory always put the alignment bolts in with the nuts/studs towards the engine compartment, alot of people don't like them that way but if you do alot of alignments on these old cars it's a lot easier with them the way the factory did it.
Attachment DeletedI've have some slicks that I ran on my other 62 and I can put them on the rims shown above when I race it. The rear has been narrowed some and with these wheels they set in a little more than stock. Till I get it outside and look at it from a distance I won't be able to tell if the in-set looks odd or not.
Attachment DeletedI went to paint the manifold yesterday and the paint I had left in the can had gelled up. I had gotten that paint from John Comstock, whom many of you may know as a really good NSS racer from Ohio. John used to work at a paint store.
Well, I went to NAPA and the guy there said he could match it. I have seen these computer operated light gun matching units and around here they charge $40 bucks for a match.
NAPA here has thousands of color chips in small 2X3" books and he started with that. There was actually 2 books of solid orange and one chip was really a great match, and he made a couple ounces of that and tried it. He added a little more orange after that and its perfect. No charge. So I got a quart of urethane. I really like the looks of a max wedge with the right color on it.
