What did you guys do to afford this? By the way, in all the cruising I did in 68-70 (before I went into the army in March of 70) I saw one, that is ONE car badged as a hemi, a 69 butterscotch plymouth. Don't know if it really was a hemi or not. People around here talk as if hemi cars were everywhere....but they weren't. On any Friday or Saturday night there was hundreds of cars circling the "loop" in downtown St. Paul. Quite a sight really.

In 1965 when the 66's came out our local Dodge dealer called me to look at this new Coronet 440 he just got in. It was a 4 speed bench seat with 383 badges, but under the hood was a Hemi, he wanted to shake up some of the locals with this beast. I would use my slicks and street race it for him, I was driving a 1965 383 4 speed and couldn't afford to make the trade, sure was a fun time back then.

as some of you know I grew up in a Chrysler dealership, my Dad was not into performace cars, but some came thru, not a real performer but a neat car in 1966 a guy in town ordered a 66 fury III 4dr with 383 police motor and hurst 4spd black hard top with red guts , fender skirts etc, when he'd leave it for an oil change for the day the mechanic we had would give me a pretty good ride , years later I bought the car from the guy it was sitting in his back yard, I bought it for $75 , I fixed it up a little and sold it , that's one I wished I would have kept. 4dr ht with a 4spd, cool car for a c-body.
