It is with a heavy heart that i share with you the sad news of the loss of my dear friend, Ron Leek. Many of you will remember him as the owner/announcer at Byron Dragway.

Sad to hear this. Seems like Ron was doing ok, so kind of a shock. His ideas shaped the direction of sportsman drag racing on the US.

He was just great to talk to and love to hear him announce. Dick Monaco introduced him to me at Byron and he told some stories. Just great! He told how index and bracket racing came to be at his track, and he had to "invent" this to keep his track going. He also told the story of how he gave Arnie Beswick the "Farmer" name. Going to be missed.

Ron was a true Pioneer of the Drag Racing Hobby. He was a great Friend and Supporter of the Victory Series and I am honored to have gotten the opportunity to share time with him. Although gone, he will not be forgotten, RIP my friend.
