Drivers meeting was held on Saturday, 29 August with all drivers in attendance. Due to the incredible response of our sponsors, a huge drawing for gift certificates and money was awarded to numerous drivers.
Dustin Christensen was chosen for the "Rookie of the year". What a great start off he had this year. He was undoubtably helped along with this effort by his pit crew of kids and spouse. Way to go Dustin.
Then, "Driver of the year". Well, only one guess do you get on this one. Mr. "three times in a row winner" Kevin Miller. That is a record that may never be broken in Victory NSS. Well done Kevin, we are ALL proud of you. Wow.
Dick Monaco's name was drawn twice for prizes, but he refused both times as he recruited those sponsors. I tried to convince him to take one, but to no avail. Dick doesn't say much at times, but he has always been a huge asset to this race group, often unnoticed. When we went to ask about a gamblers race, I thought I would have to do the asking. But Dick stepped up, as usual, and did that for us. He did such nice polite request, he was actually fun to watch. Due to the track being behind schedule already, we were, unfortunately, declined. But, all of us in the tower, understood why. We appreciate your work Dick, thanks for what you do.
As in all years past, the vote on rules came up. After a good bit of discussion on potential rule changes, several members, NSS racers from way back, gave some history lessons on rule changes. Examples were given, good and bad, and a vote was then taken. Rules are fixed again for the next year, without any changes.
