I see on Bangshift today a story and picture of a loop device at the center section! Does anybody know the rules on needing one? Not a bad idea!!

I haven't heard of the requirement for our cars. But I believe some of the real fast cars have to have a "tunnel" that protects the driver from the shaft coming through the floor anywhere near the driver.
I believe a female driver was seriously hurt a couple of years ago as the tunnel wasn't sufficient enough. And there was some lawsuit or something as the NHRA requirements were actually short of true protection. Don't know how any of that turned out.
I was behind a Chevy station wagon that belonged to a friend when the front joint let go going down the high way. I saw the shaft on both sides of the car and the amount of dirt and rust that was "banged" off of the car by the flaying shaft was astounding. The shaft broke loose after seconds and flopped out on the side of the road. After seeing that, I never had a problem putting in a good loop. A rear loop wouldn't hurt either.

Happy Easter my amigo!! Yeh, I saw the rear device on Bangshift and thought it might be a good idea? Easy to make something too maybe? May be a rule on drag cars soon anyway?

I've got the perfect set up to bend loops from 2"x1/4" bar on my press. I have made a number of them. Yeah, it would be pretty easy to make a long one. But, attaching it, don't know, have to look and see.
The bought loops have so many holes in them they are ugly, never could stand them.
The real problem might be with the longer loop there would be too much room to flop about. It would probably take quite a beating if a joint let loose. As such, maybe mount it to the center section, eh?

Trucker redneck trick: just put a tarp strap under it! They have a little flexibility! Lol
