The Flying Butcher was lucky enough to take Round One of what I am sure will be many races between the Mopar Crazy Challenger and Mike Kurz's big bad Duster. We ran 7.73 to his 8.01. Unfortunately, Mike suffered Mag failure and couldn't return for Round Two. We ran 7.75, 7.73 and 7.74, I guess we have a bracket F/C! The Butcher was off his game a little with only a .05 Reaction average for the weekend....... We look forward to racing at the Funny Car Nats at the end of the month and to future outings with Mike Kurz. Maybe the Butcher will get a chance to whoop Fugly soon as well..... Stay tuned! Sorry to hear about Mike's Farming accident. Glad he is going to be OK. I will be glad when both he and Fugly are healed up so we can go for Round 2! The Flying Butcher and Team Mopar Crazy are off to Ohio this weekend for Funny Car Nats. 30 plus F/C's in one place, should be awesome. Wish me luck!!!! The Flying Butcher

It wasn't always pretty, but Team CCR [Crippled Crew Racing] and Team Mopar Crazy survived another weekend. Mike's car came loose in the trailer traveling the "Ultra smooth" Wisconsin highways. With a lot of hard work and help from fellow Racers, they made repairs and were ready for action. I had warned Fugly about the track but I don't think he took me serious until he made a pass. The car sounded strong and Damon did a good job of pedaling and saving the car on his first pass. They returned for round 2 and once again found the track to be too much for Mike's tune up. Fugly did a good job and him, Tom and Mike did an awesome job of preparing the car for the Race. Unfortunately, The Butcher and Fugly did not get to meet up in competition. We also struggled making it down the tricky surface under full power. I did a lot of pedaling and herding, making 3 passes without hitting anything or hurting the car. On the last pass, I got a wonderful view of the Wisconsin Evening Sky as I launched hard with the front end climbing high. I coaxed it back to earth and continued on but it was not good enough to make the Final. This old fat boy did manage to earn his third Good Vibrations Reaction Award of the year. My two consecutive .01 lights were well ahead of the closest competitor. The Fans at WIR are awesome. We towed back in front of the packed Stands on our last run and got a standing ovation. Needless to say, my helmet fits a little tighter...... It was also very cool to have so many Fans [especially the kids] come by the Pits for autographs, Hero Cards and to get their picture with me and the car. It does this old man's ego well to see the smiles on kids faces. A big thank you to Jim Kroeger for coming out and helping as we were short a crew member. Jim did a great job and fit right in. When you see Jim, ask him how I broke him in right off the bat..... LOL. It was also cool to see Tim, Jeff and Cori Mac Frees at the Track. Congrats to Jeff on winning the Bracket Class, way to represent Team Victory! Once again a good time was had by all. I look forward to lining up against Fugly and Team CCR at Cedar Falls on July 9th. If you are in the area, come check us out [Fugly might need some consoling after the Butcher whoops up on him]. The Flying Butcher

Opening the door Saturday morning to find the HaHawagon sitting crooked and bent in the trailer was not the way we hoped to start. We walked the track and one of the locals announced he had never seen a funny car able to make a full pass was very motivational to boot... Chris did warn me and I was able to observe him basketball down the track on the first pass....our little meatball did a great job of not flattening cones on that one....The Frees gang managed to round up a welder to fix the frame and I don't know how many of the drivers and crew from the GLNFC cars came to help for most of the day to get the car back to racing form....really a great group, we would have not made it down the track without the help and I am humbled by there attitudes.Mike had the car ready to make a big pass, but both times we had trouble staying on the ground so I guess it will be another time until we take home the awards....looking forward to it ...the fans were amazing, drivers and crew an example for all , really a great weekend in spite of everything....thanks to Mike for the ride, Tom for getting us two "old cripples" thru it and to Dennis for putting on the show...

Thank you Jim and Nancy Shelton for loaning me your fantastic car this weekend at the Indianapolis NMCA Race! I was very proud to take it to the Winner's Circle in my NSS Class. I was glad to see that the Flying Butcher still remembers how to drive something besides a Funny Car...... I was lucky enough to get a Perfect .000 Light and had a .018 Reaction average. The car ran flawless but my .01 Redlight on Sunday ended my Day. Becky and I had a blast. It was good to return to my NSS Roots, but July 9th, it will be back to the F/C as we race at Cedar Falls' Night Of Fire.
