Are we allowed to have a line lock on the rear brakes also, to help hold the car when staging? If so, does anyone have their car set up that way? I was asked that last weekend at the track because I do not have a rear brake line lock and only use it for the burnout.

I was always told the four wheel line lock was a poor mans tranny brake. I think that would make it illegal for us.

Yeh Jerry, I am kind of thinking that too !! I was just surprised when the guy asked because I didn't know anyone did that? Just curious what others had to say about it? I would not know how to do it anyway?

I think the simple answer to this is it is not necessary on our type of cars and you would be releasing a button to launch the car, thus making it a NO NO for NSS. See you at Gateway Buddy! Chris

Thanks Chris, That is what I was thinking also. The guy that asked me about it was a local bracket racer. I have enough problems remembering to get my foot off the brake so I surely don't need anything else !!

I have heard of people doing it, and I looked into it about 20 years ago, and recall that NHRA prohibited that install back then due to safety concerns. Might want to research the rule book a little more to see if it's still in there. Your basically locking out your rear brakes .

Unless you had a two step I see no advantage. But I think NHRA rules it out as Jay says. Should look I guess.

Like I said, I was just wondering if anybody did it so the car would not creep at the line as bad? Russ must do it? Or not !! Just kidding and Jay is probably right.

I have a way to lock all four wheels up, the brake pedal, eh? Come up to the line, stomp the brakes, wait for the light, then stomp the gas.
