Like a Rock
Chevy used the Bob Seger song “Like a rock” to promote their trucks sometime back and I’ll have to say It did get the message across very well. I’ll leave room here for the jokes… Chevy, Ford and Dodge…
I don’t remember very many nostalgia racecars being named after rocks, but there may have been. Now I have heard the term brick and anchor applied, but not in a good way. You know what I mean, like a bad meatloaf, setting like a rock. (Not to be confused with the band Meatloaf or their hit “a bat out of hell”.)
In 1975 Gary Dahl was listening to his friends complain about their pets. This gave him the idea for the perfect "pet": a rock.[1] A rock would not need to be fed, walked, bathed, or groomed; and would not die, become sick, or be disobedient. He said they were to be the perfect pets, and joked about it with his friends.[2] Dahl took the idea seriously, and drafted an "instruction manual" for a pet rock. It was full of puns, gags and plays on words that referred to the rock as an actual pet.
Not much of a pet, but I do question some owners and their level of commit. Remember he sold thousands of pet rocks and mainly to kids.
Speaking of commitment, what about those new shirt designs. The Victory NSS gang will be the buzz of the block (no pun intended . Congrats and thank you for all you do Chris!
Commitment is what makes men out of boys and racers out of spectators. Turning wrenches, replacing parts and making adjustments and putting skin in the game. (By the way, did you get that engine diaper ordered???)
Simon Peter new something about moving beyond failure, a hero to zero and back again.
The Holy Scripture refers to Christ as a “Living Stone” and to believers as a “lively stone”.
1 Peter 2: 4To whom coming, as unto a living stone, disallowed indeed of men, but chosen of God, and precious, 5Ye also, as lively stones, are built up a spiritual house, an holy priesthood, to offer up spiritual sacrifices, acceptable to God by Jesus Christ.
May we be always “coming” to this chosen and precious stone, full of life, and be ever built up.
May you be blessed with strength and guidance, both spiritually and physically this day and get out there, be lively and tune-up those nss cars. Spring is just around the corner and they won’t just work on themselves.
Love like Jesus,
