Singing and hearing Christmas songs that were written years ago in a style almost forgotten, I was reminded of the Dickens story, A Christmas Carol.
Now the idea of being visited by ghosts or reminded of past mistakes has little to do with this merry season, but the thought of carrying burdens does. Ebenezer Scrooge was heading down the same path as his deceased partner Marley and added to his chain and torment daily. After the three spirits of Christmas were done with him, his heart began to soften and his eyes opened to what really mattered, the real meaning of Christmas. Not the love of money or what it will buy, but a reflection of the Holy Fathers love and the greatest gift known to mankind, His Son Jesus Christ.
From the Holy Scripture, Ephesians 5: 8For you were once darkness, but now you are light in the Lord. Live as children of light
Christians past: For you were once darkness Christians present: But now you are light in the Lord Christians yet to come: Live as children of light
Moral of the story, don’t let the mistakes of the past ruin the present or darken the time yet to come.
Rejoice! For we celebrate the birth of our savior, Jesus the Christ! Again I say rejoice!
I pray you get to spend time with love ones here and light a candle in the memory of those gone ahead of us.
Merry Christmas and may God bless us, everyone…
