As usual, we had an interesting outing. We warmed it up on Friday afternoon only to find that we had a blower gasket leak. We pulled the blower and installed another gasket. Fired it again to find it still leaking! Removed it again and used silicone and it was all good then. Shortly before we were to make a test run the skies opened up and the place was swamped. So much for Friday. Saturday came with sunshine and much cooler temps. We made a test pass a little after 2:00. We had the car soft to get a base line for Roland. It left like a pig but got rolling about half track. We ran an 8.01 at 172 mph! Now Roland had something to tune off of. Our first run was to be at 7:00. That became 9:30. Temps were dropping like a rock and dew was starting. The Flying Butcher launched hard with a .009 reaction, not bad for a wanna-be driver. Mid track the car tried to make a couple of u-turns and I shut off. Our Finals were at 12:30 with the temp at 48 degrees and we were 50 miles from the Lake, need I say more? The corrected altitude was below 800 ft. and Roland had the car tuned up. He figured it will spin anyway, this way if by chance we hooked, we were going to fly! The track decided to go to an 1/8 mile for the Finals [smart move]. The car felt awesome in the burn out, but with the winshield fogging up as I backed up, I knew what to expect. The car launched hard, with a 1.15 60ft. but then quikly started to skate. I short shifted, pedaled, herded, leaned and what ever else I could do to get the car down track. We picked up the win light with a 5.10 at 113mph in the 1/8th. All in all it was a good time. Nothing broke, met a lot of good people, signed a lot of autographs and enjoyed hanging out with Roland as usual. The car is in one piece and we look forward to next year! The Flying Butcher

Weather in Quad Cities sounds great for racin. Haven't checked St Louis yet but assuming the same I'll be there w/ the only 59 Chev racing...wife is actually coming this trip. Sounds like a decent weekend Chris. I figure any weekend coming out in 1 piece is pretty good. (And I don't want to see any comments about "running a Chevy")

The weather for this weekend looks awesome at Gateway! 50 to 71 degrees all weekend and mostly sunny, with the great Gateway surface and killer air, the Ol' Hot Rods should fly, even the Chevies..... We will do Pizza Saturday Night after we are done so don't make dinner plans, you can bring a dessert or snack if you like. Also, don't forget the UBDRA Hospitality area on Friday evening. Don't forget, you can sign up for next year and save $25.00. If anyone would like to post a Specialty Award or prize, let me know. We will have a good time as usual this weekend, BE THERE!!!!!!!! Chris
