Do we have any members that have the skill to hand paint letter a race car in the style of the 60's and make it weathered so it looks like it has been on there over 50 years ? Don't care too much for the vinyl graphic stick on lettering. You look at pictures of original Super Stock cars racing, about all had a name, or a dealership name, sometimes both. Just curious.

Ahoy Capitan George have you ever looked up the 422 Allstars from back east. NSS group that runs the east area, Penn. and so forth, I'm not sure who painted or lettered their cars but it might be worth a look.
Smooth sailing buckaroo .

Good idea George!! I personally think all our Victory cars should be lettered up !! After all, we are a nostalgia race group aren’t we?

My opinion, for what it's worth, and this should be a voluntary thing, maybe ad this to Victory rules (but not make it a rule). If the car owner is willing, he or she, should make an effort to give their race car an authentic 1960's appearance inside and out. Unfortunately that will cost money to change. Most of us have the modern light weight mags, etc.. Bad part is the old school mags don't have a very good selection of back spacing for the rears. I am glad for our hood scoop rule as it is ! I would love to have a Gary Ball interior vintage 1964. I will run up and shake the hand of our first member to run rear steel wheels painted half and half like the Ramchargers and Golden Commandos did ! I read it became a fad for awhile, but seems 1965 and after most went with mags. There are some old school groups out there that require vintage equipment. Can you see us all giving up our monster shift lite tach ? If it wasn't there in the 1960's it can't be visible in your car. They letter and pinstripe paint cars at the Joliet Rt 66 Classic, old school, don't know how to get in on that. I am sure there are guys that don't want to paint stuff on their multi thousand dollar paint job. Somebody please pass the word on to Goat Roper Bob Lister, we miss him.

If we started from scratch there is a few things I would change. One of them would be vintage looking wheels. Also, no fab valve covers. BUT, we are not there. The Meltdown drags and the Fallout drags are very strict in there vintage look to include the above things, but they started from nothing. We got a pretty good thing going, and I do like the lettering. But, I don't see that as changing. We are passionate about what we do, lets not ever loose that, eh?

Well,, while were all talking about and our conversations kind of over lap which I think is a good thing, but to get back to APPEARNCE and I think Bruce Lang said he talked with a couple of guy's that were looking for us, Victory NSS if we are to represent a time period and put on a show for the fans, period correct looking cars would be a plus. Many years ago Peter and I attended a Good Guys event at Indy and the reason we built the Belvedere was because of what we saw represented at that event, Nostalgia Super Stock. This is stuff we never got the chance to see back in the day but lets face it , We all think it's pretty cool so do a lot of spectators that watch us. I'm all for making our cars look that much more period correct however some of the items we all use or "run" on our cars are crucial to making them run the way they do. I guess another question to ask is , the fans sitting in the stands are watching the cars not so much interested in what kind of equipment we have. There will always be someone who will look at our cars and say " They didn't run this or that back then " well yeah we all kinda know that, don't we.

So, the cars in Victory that don't have a name, what would you name your car ? Mine would be Polara Pirate or Polara Bear. Tom H. have you ever considered a name ? Jerry, what name would you put on yours ? Dick ? Anybody ? Chris, would there be another Missouri Max ? We should meet our rules, first, and then voluntarily make them more vintage appearing.

Mine would be "Redioactive" I used to travel (a lot) fixing Navy guns. Have gun will travel comes to mind with Paladin on the doors. That is what all my work mates thought would be good.
